Maya Karkour

Maya Karkour is an Environmental and Circular Economy Specialist, an Eco-Entrepreneur, and the Managing Director of EcoConsulting, a specialized sustainability consultancy which she founded in 2003 in the UK and in 2007 in Lebanon. She has been since 2022 the Chair of the EcoSwitch Coalition for green entrepreneurs in Lebanon.

Maya has directly worked on numerous projects aiming at reducing their environmental footprint. She has been a keynote speaker or moderator at various sustainability/environmental conferences in Lebanon and other countries; and has organized and conducted numerous sustainability, green building, circular economy, blue economy and environmental seminars & workshops. She has been coaching environmental start-ups with innovative entrepreneurial solutions and is mentoring eco or social entrepreneurs to help them establish and scale up. Maya has been actively promoting the Circular Economy and sustainable practices in Lebanon and launched the Circular Hub in 2019.

Maya holds an MSc (hons) in Environment & Sustainable Policies from the London School of Economics & Political Science, is a LEED Accredited Professional, a BREEAM Licensed Assessor, and a Low Carbon Energy Assessor. She is a Circular Economy Specialist with the Circular Economy Club and the Circular Economy Alliance, and holds the Permaculture Design Certificate, first level. Maya is also a fellow of the Middle East Leadership Initiative (MELI) of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Mohamad Mortada

After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture in 2015, from the Lebanese American University, Mohamad began working at EcoConsulting as a Sustainable Design Architect in 2016. He specializes in sustainable design and green building certifications, with over seven years of practical experience in the field. He is also a certified Circular Economy Specialist from the Circular Economy Alliance.

Mohamad is an accredited LEED Green Associate and has worked on more than 30 green certified (LEED or BREEAM) and uncertified projects and eco-building competitions. His work involves providing detailed advice on energy-efficiency, insulation, low-impact materials, resource efficiency, and health & well-being in buildings. He is also a certified Construction Product Life Cycle Assessment Specialist.

Mohamed has been involved in developing content for Environmental Awareness & Climate Action education curriculum for Youth, both for UNDP and UNICEF. He is also a lecturer at the Circular Hub, and has been involved in delivering numerous trainings, workshops and talks related to green buildings, climate change, circular materials, and sustainability.

A Master Class on Circular Hospitality initiating our partnership with the Global Sustainable Tourism Academy by Event Guru!


This Circular Hospitality master class provides an in-depth exploration of the circular economy principles and eco-design, and how circular strategies and business models can be applied within the hospitality industry. 

This master class equips participants with essential knowledge and practical strategies to integrate circular economy principles into hospitality operations. It covers sustainable business models, eco-design, and life cycle thinking, alongside resource efficiency, waste reduction, and energy management. Participants will also explore green building practices, circular procurement, and the development of low-impact hotels and guesthouses.

By the end of the program, attendees will be empowered to make informed decisions, implement sustainable practices, enhance resource efficiency, minimize waste, and create more resilient, eco-friendly hospitality businesses, while simultaneously reducing operational costs. To ensure an engaging and interactive learning experience, the training incorporates visuals, infographics, videos, animations, and real-world examples.

Program Details:

- Start Date: June 24, 2025, with sessions held every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 PM EEST.  For participants unable to join the live sessions, recordings will be available for up to one week after each session.
