Seminar Content

SE11

AgroEcology is an Ecological Approach to Agriculture. It is farming that “centers on food production that makes the best use of nature’s goods and services while not damaging these resources.” This seminar will give an introduction to AgroEcology and AgroForestry, sustainable ways to farm while protecting biodiversity and the health of our soil, as well as mitigating the impact of agriculture on climate change.

The second part of the seminar will focus on techniques to intercrop different trees and plant species. Intercropping is the cultivation of two or more crops simultaneously on the same field, it is based on the principles of companion planting: plants that like each other and thrive together while producing better yields and enriching the soil!

Practical examples will be given, for Mediterranean and local plants, herbs, and vegetables :)
